Prof. Wang received her Bachelor degree in Dept. of physics from Peking University in 1968 and her Maser degree in Dept. of Information from RenMin University of China in 1981. She started her database related career as an assistant professor in Dept. of Information at 1981. During 1984—1986, invited by S.B.Yao, she had been a visitor to the Univ. of Maryland, USA, where she took part in the development of XDB--A Extendible Data Base Management System. She was promoted to associate professor in 1986 and a full professor in 1991. From 1999, she has been the dean of the Information School whose former is the Dept. of Information. She has been the Director of Institute of Data & Knowledge Engineering since 1987.

Prof. Wang is a Visiting Professor of the Institute of Computing Technology in Chinese Academy of Science, Vice President of Chinese Computer Federation (CCF), the Chairperson of Database Society of CCF, Councilor of Beijing Computer Society and Senior Consultant of Xin Hua News Agent. She also works as a committee in the Editorial Board of many journals, such as: “Journal of Computer Science and Technology” (English), “Journal of Computer Science” (Chinese) , “ Journal of software ”, She has been Program Chair or Program Committee in many international conferences or workshops (See Below).

Prof. Wang had worked on the research of Parallel Database System, advanced database system technology and Natural Chinese language Interface of RDBMS. Her current research interests include Data Warehousing and Business Intelligent technology, Mobile Database System and Web Data Management.
